The Year of the Monstera
Monstera has become a rockstar in the houseplant scene and beyone, charming plant lovers everywhere with its heart-shaped leaves and remarkable leaf perforations and notches. Part of the versatile Araceae family, this plant comes in a range of species and cultivars, so there’s a Monstera for just about everyone. Each year the National Garden Bureau selects one annual, one perennial, one bulb crop, one edible, one houseplant, and one shrub as our “Year of the” crops. Plants are chosen because they are popular, easy-to-grow, widely adaptable, genetically diverse, and versatile. So it was only a matter of time until Monstera would be selected.
